Fitbit Versa vs Charge 2: What’s the difference?

Fitbit is one of the leading manufacturers of wearables in the world with a large range of products. A simple search on Amazon will also show you how popular this brand in the fitness world is.

One of the most popular models on the market is Fitbit Charge 2. So, it´s time to compare this great tracker with the newest Fitbit´s model. To say it simple – Fitbit Versa vs Charge 2.

Fitbit Versa vs Charge 2: Design

Wearables are more than a fashion accessory, but elegant design and comfortable fit on the wrist is always a huge bonus.

Fitbit Versa: The Versa is a smartwatch with a fresh look that seems more like Apple Watch. Honestly, for some people, it might look like an Apple Watch imitation with the rounded corners and square aluminum casing.

However, it´s is lighter (24g without a strap) and thinner than the Fitbit Charge 2 (11mm deep), so comfortable wearing is the huge advantage of this model. With regard to its weight, Fitbit even claims it as the lightest metal smartwatch on the market.

The screen is crisp and sharp, with increased pixels and amplified brightness up to 1,000 nits and a high resolution 300×300 pixel 1.34-inch LCD touchscreen that measures 24.1 x 24.1mm.

Fitbit Charge 2: Despite its age, Charge 2 is still one of the best fitness trackers you could wear on your wrist. In terms of design, the Fitbit Charge 2 is a mix of the Fitbit Alta and the original Charge.

It comes with the identical rubber textured strap of the Charge and adds a longer OLED display of the Alta.

Compared to its predecessor, it is more comfortable, displays all the needed info in a stylish way and allows you to easily replace straps with new ones of the color you want.

Winner – Fitbit Versa looks beautiful. With its sleek, minimal, almost Apple design, and comfortable fit, you have a fashion accessory. Charge 2 is just a fitness tracker, it looks identical to other trackers on the market.

Fitbit Versa vs Charge 2: Features

Fitbit Versa: The reason why the Versa costs so much less than other models, is the missing built-in GPS. What this means is that, if you need to track a route, you will have to take your smartphone with you.

This isn´t a big disadvantage, because Fitbit Versa is an awesome smartwatch with a lot of features useful features. This model also does have enough onboard storage for at least 300 music tracks, which can be played through a pair of Bluetooth headphones. There is also an NFC function for contactless payments (Fitbit Pay), unfortunately with limited bank support.

In terms of fitness and activity tracking, Fitbit Versa is one of the few waterproof Fitbits available. It is water-resistant up to 50 meters, so you can wear it in the pool and track your swimming progress.

All of its trackings is done using a 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer, altimeter, and heart rate monitor. What´s more, simplicity is the key to success here. To quickly overview your day´s stats, just swipe up on the main screen.

Fitbit Charge 2: This popular fitness tracker has all the standard features you need to correct tracking. It records steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, active minutes and continuous heart rate.

Do you want more?

Automatic sleep tracking, silent alarms, Reminders to Move, and hourly activity are all also included, along with smartphone notifications for calls, texts and calendar alerts.

The Fitbit Charge 2 also offers connected GPS. That means you need to use your phone to record a map. Another smart feature of the tracker is Guided Breathing, which is designed to offer personalized breathing sessions based on your heart rate and Cardio Fitness Level (VO2 Max measurement).

Winner – Fitbit Charge 2 with its accurate tracking and smart features such as Guided Breathing and Cardio Fitness Level is designed for active people. Unfortunately, no waterproofing means no swimming with Charge 2, which is a shame. With the Versa, you can go up to 50 meters underwater, but sensors aren´t so accurate as with Charge 2.

Fitbit Versa vs Charge 2: Battery Life

Fitbit Versa: Battery life is one area where the Fitbit Versa glows. You know, the number of days you will get out of the smartwatch mainly depends on how many functions and apps you use throughout the week. After a full charge, you should expect a battery life of around 3-4 days. That means you can track your workouts, sleep, listen to music or see smartphone notifications and charge the Versa only twice a week.

Fitbit Charge 2: The battery life of the fitness tracker is impressive. Fitbit claims the Charge 2 battery will last up to five days depending on use. With every notification turned on, for fitness, heart rate, sleep tracking, and standard daily usage, you will get about 5 days of life without any problems. Interesting fact: you get an email as a reminder to charge the tracker when it gets a low battery life.

Winner – Battery life varies depending on how heavily you use your wearable. For a smartwatch, Fitbit Versa has an outstanding battery life, but with Charge 2 you will get two days of battery life more.

Conclusion

Comparing smartwatches and fitness trackers is a tricky task. If you need an accurate tracker for your daily activities or workout, go for Fitbit Charge 2. Do you want to take your wearable into the pool – Fitbit Versa is the answer. There is plenty to like about the Versa, from its range of tracking capabilities to its long battery life.
