The VLC’s default menus language is set to “Auto“. This means, that the program picks the language of your operating system. That is because the installation language doesn’t affect the language settings of the VLC player.

So, if you want to learn how to change the language in the VLC media player, here is everything you need to know.

Change The VLC Language From The Interface

  1. Sorry, there is no Language option on my VLC. It is VLC media player 3.0.17.2 Vetinari on Linux Fedora 35 KDE Plasma. On previous versions it installed with the menu language that is used on the system, which is English on my system, and which is what I want. Now it is fixed to something else like a local input locale which is something that I do not want, because I often change my local input locale for using different keyboards (latin, cyrillic, greek, arabic, hebrew etc.), but menu choices are unique standard international technical terms that I do not want to be changed.
