How to cancel a bid on eBay as buyer
You may retract a bid if you meet these requirements:
- The seller significantly changed the description of the item
- You accidentally bid the wrong amount. For example, you meant to bid $50, not $500.
- You can’t reach the seller.
- All of your bids can be retracted, if there are 12 hours or more left before the listing ends.
If the listing is ending in less than 12 hours, you can retract your most recent bid if it’s been less than an hour since you placed it.

Go to eBay’s Retract Bid page.
Enter the item number or press “Ctrl” and “P” to paste the number, and choose your reason from the drop-down menu.
Click Retract Bid button
You will receive a confirmation of your bid retraction via e-mail. Keep a copy of it until the auction is completed.
How to cancel a bid on eBay as seller
As a seller, you can also retract a bid on eBay, but only in certain circumstances. For example, If your listing contains an error if you feel that the buyer is not legitimate or if the buyer contacts you with a reasonable explanation to cancel their bid.
