The Sizzix Eclips2 is not quite as versatile with materials as its main and more popular rivals and does not have any embossing or engraving features. But its high precision cut, perfect scoring, reliable cutting and the power to handle small design, makes Eclips2 great for paper crafts, especially card-making.

Overall, we really like the Eclips2 — with the caveat that you need to upgrade to the eCAL2 software to really get the most from the product. The cutting precision and strength are some of the best you can hope for in this price range, the machine is robust and of high quality, and it consistently produces reliable and predictable cuts.

But its high precision cut, perfect scoring, reliable cutting and the power to handle small design, makes Eclips2 great for paper crafts, especially card-making. If you do want to use it on other materials, it does have easy to use automatic speed and pressure settings, so you can adjust the blade for deeper cutting.

This die cutter is faster and quieter than its predecessor. Even with its substantial cutting force, though, the eclips2 cannot handle heavy-duty materials like some of our higher-ranking machines. It can apply up to 600 grams of force to its blade, which is enough force to slice through tough paper and cloth.

The Eclips performed on par with the Cameo by cut all the way through the cardstock but not cutting the numbers all the way through. I believe with some time to dial in the correct settings I could have cut the numbers all the way through.

While the Big Shot is Sizzix’s most popular manual die cuts machine, the eClips models are their flagship electronic model. The eClips2 is the latest version and it offers some of the most precise cutting technology available.

The eClips2 is the latest version of this device, and it features incredible precision in a uniquely compact design. You will need to plug this model into the computer to send it designs, but everything you need is included in the kit.
